Way back in the start of the 80's, I began to drift from the traditional grip I was taught at a young age.
My reason was because I was playing alot of Rock , even some metal. I kept the match grip because some of my favorite
players at the time were using match grip.( Seems as though it was an epidemic back then) A few years my justification
came to a skid when I saw Steve Gadd, Vinnie Colaiuta, and Dave Weckel play. If you aren't familiar with what I am
refering to, just go to youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ln6b_nBM-V8
It is a great example, even though it is 20 years old, how versatle the traditional grip can really be.
It requires a lot of finess and it is best demonstrated by these three guys.
I'd like to hear what everybody thinks about this, your experience, your preference and your ideas.
Have a great day and keep on keepin on!
Jim
